Hello and welcome to my blog! I'm Janet Schwartz, a photographer and journalist with thousands of bylines under my belt in major news organizations. I'm excited to share with you some of my stories and images from decades of arduous work, as well as some tips and insights on photography and journalism.

On this website, you can find several sections that showcase my work and interests. Here's a brief overview of what you can expect:

- Home: This is where you can see some of my featured photos and read about my latest news and projects.

- About: This is where you can learn more about me, my background, my awards, and my publications including co-authoring several books by Thrums. You can also read a testimonial from Laurel Bellante, who wrote a review of my unique hybrid tech photo-paintings in Jovel News², a local Chiapas, Mexican magazine.

- Portfolio: This is where you can browse through my photo galleries, organized by themes and locations. In the photojournalism sections, you can view much of my published work from Chiapas, Mexico, where I lived for many decades and documented the Zapatista uprising, and the diversity of social movements. My specialized work includes the ancient Maya ruins of southern Mexico, the origins of their rich textiles today, and Maya migration all the way from Central America through porous yet perilous borderlands to get to the US. Included is a several-years long documentary project I undertook in Israel, where I captured unique images with stories, despite the dangers.

- Services: This is where you can find out what I offer as a photographer and journalist. You can hire me for assignments, commissions, workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and consultations. You can also buy prints of my photos, photo-paintings or license them for editorial or commercial use upon request.

- Contact: This is where you can get in touch with me if you have any questions, comments, feedback, or inquiries. You can also follow me on social media to see more of my work and connect with me.

I hope you enjoy exploring my website and discovering my passion for photography and journalism. I look forward to hearing from you and sharing more of my stories and images with you. Thank you for visiting and stay tuned for more blog posts! 😊

Your Wix Blog comes with 8 beautiful layouts to choose from. Whether you prefer a trendy postcard look or you’re going for a more editorial style blog - there’s something stunning for everyone.

From your blog's settings, choose a layout for your blog feed that suits your style. For example, a tiled layout is popular for helping visitors easily discover more posts that interest them. Or, choose a classic single column layout that lets readers scroll down and see your post topics one by one. The full post layout opens the entire post in an endless scroll.

Every layout comes with the latest social features built in. Readers will be able to easily share posts on social networks like Facebook and Twitter, view how many people have liked a post, made comments and more.

Tip:

Mix and match your look. Choose one layout for your blog's homepage and a different one for your category pages. You can change your layouts at any time, even after you’ve published your blog.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Head to Settings > Categories

  2. Click on the 3 dots icon

  3. Click Edit
